Lewis Hamilton is set to have his first test for Ferrari on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the team’s private Fiorano test track in Maranello, Italy. This highly anticipated debut comes just days after Hamilton officially begins his Ferrari preparations on Monday, January 20, 2025.

For this initial test, Hamilton will be driving the Ferrari F1-75, which is the team’s car from the 2022 Formula 1 season. This choice aligns with Formula 1’s regulations that allow teams to test cars from previous seasons under the Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) rules.

The F1-75 was Ferrari’s first car designed for the ground-effect regulations introduced in 2022. It features distinctive “bathtub”-shaped sidepods and was a competitive package that helped Ferrari return to winning form after challenging seasons in 2020 and 2021. By using this car, Hamilton will get a feel for some of Ferrari’s recent design philosophies and performance characteristics, even though it’s not the most current iteration of their machinery.

This test at Fiorano is part of Ferrari’s traditional January “wake-up” test, designed to get the team and drivers back up to speed before the new season begins. It’s expected to be part of a three-day program running from Tuesday, January 21 to Thursday, January 23, 2025, with Hamilton’s session scheduled for the middle day.
