Reveal of the 2026 Mercedes W17 Livery
Mercedes has unveiled the W17, its highly anticipated Formula 1 challenger for the 2026 season.
The car complies with the sport’s major new technical regulations for both chassis and power unit, incorporating active aerodynamics—with movable front and rear wings—and a roughly 50:50 power split between the internal combustion engine and electric hybrid system. It also runs on advanced sustainable fuels, developed in close collaboration with longtime title partner Petronas.
The livery remains largely faithful to the classic black and silver Silver Arrows scheme, accented by turquoise highlights in tribute to Petronas. A fresh addition sees the Microsoft logo prominently displayed on the airbox and front wing endplates, following the team’s new multi-year partnership with the tech giant, which takes over from its previous association with Alpine.
“Formula 1 is set for massive change in 2026, and we’re ready for the shift,” said team principal Toto Wolff. “These regulations call for innovation and total commitment in every performance area. Our development of the W17, alongside the long-term evolution of the power unit and sustainable fuels with Petronas, embodies that mindset.
“Revealing the first images of the W17 marks the next milestone in our journey. It reflects the ongoing, dedicated work from everyone at Brixworth and Brackley. We’ll keep pushing flat out in the months to come.”
Continuing from its predecessor, the W17 will be piloted by lead driver George Russell and second-year racer Andrea Kimi Antonelli. In the previous season’s drivers’ championship, they finished fourth and seventh respectively.
Mercedes secured second place in the constructors’ standings, edging out Red Bull but never truly challenging the dominant McLaren team for the title.
